« La vie n’a jamais été facile pour moi. Mes parents n’ont pas pu m’envoyer à l’école et m’ont mariée très jeune à un homme qui buvait et me battait. Quand j’ai pu me séparer de lui, avec mes filles nous vivions chez ma mère qui nous maltraitait.
Puis j’ai rencontré mon mari actuel, j’ai travaillé dur sans que ça ne rapporte rien. Ma fille ainée s’est faite arrêter car elle n’était pas musulmane, après cela nous avons tout perdu. Ma seule solution était de reconstruire ma vie ailleurs, je suis arrivée seule en France sans connaître la langue. J’ai été très mal accueillie.
Maintenant, je suis chez Emmaüs depuis deux ans, j’essaie de vivre en paix et d’être heureuse car je pense avoir un bel avenir. Je veux aider les gens. »

Zahide a traversé le pire et son horizon s’éclaircit enfin. Elle a fait d’énormes sacrifices, mais elle en est à présent certaine : ses efforts ne sont pas vains. L’année prochaine, elle espère pouvoir trouver une petite maison et du travail. Sa famille, en Turquie, pourra la rejoindre et vivre à nouveau à l’abris et en sécurité.
Zahide has been through the worst, and her future is finally beginning to brighten. She has made tremendous sacrifices, but she is now certain that her efforts are not in vain.
